Omega SA is based out of Switzerland and is known to be one of the most prestigious watches around. Omega watches have a story to tell for sure. For starters, the Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph is the first watch that travelled to the moon. The benefits of the chronograph are that it’s a watch that works both as a watch and a stopwatch too. Chronographs have been produced since the 18th century and now they include analog digital, analog, and digital models. NASA still uses the Omega Speedmaster Chronographs today.

If you didn’t know by now, Omega is also a big part of Hollywood by being the official James Bond watch. The Chronometer is a huge watch that is also built strongly and keeps precise time keeping for ships at sea. Sometimes the name is used for other fine watches too.

The features that can be found on a chronometer are that the watch has a heavy balance wheel. The axis of the watch is always vertical too. Another factor is you’ll find a balance spring wound, instead of a flat helix. And also, you’ll find a fuse where the power is made to work with a lever.

There was a watch that Omega released for the 40th anniversary of James Bond. It was a special edition that only had a limited edition that was produced.

The Omega Seamaster Professional 600 also made a special appearance in the Luc Besson’s movie The Big Blue. Also Omega has been a big piece of time keeping in the Olympics since the Summer Olympics in 1932.

In 1999, Omega introduced the first mass produced watch that incorporated the co-axial escapement.
